  1. The above advertisement is one of the movie posters for the movie Invisible Children. This poster, although a simple portrait of a child carrying a gun, has so much social relevance and power behind it regarding just how terrible things are in parts of Africa right now. The image of a young child bearing an automatic weapon should ignite a fire in people to take action and help this cause, because frankly this is a battle that Africa cannot fight alone. The current situation is that African Children in Uganda have been getting abducted into the LRA (Lord’s Resistance Army) and have been forced to become child soldiers. This has created a fear among the younger population of Africa because each night the children are faced with the task of staying hidden and out of sight in the hopes that they will not be abducted. This problem creates a horrible lifestyle for these children because not only are they forced away from their families to remain safe sometimes, but also Africa itself is a poverty-ridden country and these children have awful living situations. This advertisement aims at the sentimental and compassionate sides of humans in hopes of getting them to respond to such a terrible problem. In dealing with global issues such as this, oftentimes the biggest blockade in reaching a solution is inactivity and lack of charity. This movie poster hopes to reach it’s viewers inner emotions and realize that although they may just be one person, they can still have a huge impact on the lives of countless others. The goal of the poster is essentially this: help the “Invisible Children” of Africa become seen and help save them from what will surely be a difficult and rough life.
